HOW TO PLAY THE COURSE
Harwich and Dovercourt measures only 5906 yards, but is a tricky parkland course close to the coast. It features out of bounds close to the left side of almost every hole and a fade shot is a handy weapon. The greens are mostly flat but the subtle borrows need finding. With these comments in mind it may be worth following these tips from:

1st Hole (259 yards - par 4)
A short par 4 that is reachable for long hitters. Out of bounds tight left demands a good tee shot favouring the right side of the fairway. Beware the cross bunker guarding the front of the green.

2nd Hole (482 yards - par 5)

A straight tee shot is vital to miss the fairway bunkers on the right. The rough can be very punishing on this particular hole, so accuracy is the key. Avoid the young trees on the right on your second shot as you can be blocked out for your shot to the green.

3rd Hole (541 yards - par 5)

A lengthy par 5 that requires a good tee shot to assist your second shot. The 2nd shot can be daunting with a ditch and trees to the right and a bank to the left. This shot must be straight or long enough to carry the trouble. The green slopes from right to left and can be lightning in the summer.

4th Hole (439 yards - par 4)

A long tree lined par 4 needing a good tee shot to have any chance of reaching the green in 2. The 2nd shot must be accurate with out of bounds tight to the green. Better to be a club short than a club long.

5th Hole (161 yards - par 3)

A great par 3 that plays harder than it looks. Avoid the right hand pot bunker otherwise you will be punished.
